the origin: tuqtuquilal

A Regenerative Center in LanquΓn, Guatemala

In the heart of the jungle in Alta Verapaz is Tuqtuquilal, where our products are made. Here you’ll find cacao grown within thriving agroforestry systems, surrounded by banana trees, spices, medicinal plants, and canopy trees.

This is not a retreat center removed from reality β€” it’s a living, working ecosystem embedded in relationships and lifeways of the Q’eqchi community. Here, you step directly into the source: connecting to the land, seeing how cacao grows, understanding the relationships that sustain it, and experiencing the rhythm of the forest.

Expect slow mornings, time in the mountains, communal meals, moments of rest, and getting to know the people who care for the land. There is a simplicity here that brings you closer to yourself and to what truly nourishes you.

Accommodations are simple and earthy, built to keep you in touch with the elements. It’s not about comfort in the conventional sense, but about presence β€” about remembering how to live in harmony with the land rather than apart from it.

You can book a 2-hour cacao tour on the property and schedule a visit to meet the families to see the parcels where their cacao grows.

casa awanima

A Place made with love

Casa AwΓ€nΓmΓ€ is an eco-sanctuary near Lake AtitlΓ‘n designed for experiencing peace and alignment with Mother Earth.

Stay in one of the casitas overlooking the lake and hang out at the first AWANIMA Cacao Cafe, where people come together through unique cacao drinks, conversation, and connection.

This property carries the same values β€” relationship, integrity, and care β€” but in a different rhythm. There is more movement, more exchange, more opportunity to meet international travelers who are walking a similar path.

Whether through a shared cup of cacao or an enlivening conversation, Casa AwΓ€nΓmΓ€ is a bridge, bringing people together from around the world to unite in a way of living that feels aligned and alive.
